Well, I've taken the plunge! The Leadville 100 and Silver Rush MTB (50) entry forms became available on the promoter's website this week, and I've filled out my forms, written my checks, and will be dropping in the mail tomorrow morning. It's do-or-die time! Actually, I won't know if I get to compete in the 100 until the first week of February, as that entry is a lottery system, but the Silver Rush is a definite. Time to start training!
I sure hope I get in. I can't remember the last time I was this excited filling out a race entry form, and the race is still over 7 months away. I know it's going to be a lot of pain, but it's also going to be one helluva sense of accomplishment, too. And I think what excites me even more is the training it's going to require me to do. I need a motivator like this to get me out there and really "train", not just "ride". The last couple seasons haven't seen squat from me in terms of racing, so it's time to shake it up
Leadville or Bust!

I hope you get in the 100! I'm still undecided but leaning toward doing it. Since I have to commit now, it will give me extra motivation to get my butt moving again. If I decide to do it I should get in since I volunteered last year the night before the race.
Thanks! I hate having to register for events so far in advance (especially when they cost this much - $240!!), because you never know what life is going to throw at you in 7 months' time, but like you said, it is indeed extra motivation to get out there training, and I need a little of that right now.
